Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed the nation on Monday, after the causalities of more than dozens of TLP workers at Yateem Khana Chowk Lahore by law enforcement agencies during the holy month of Ramadan on Sunday and following the strike of religious parties’ country wide for Namos e Rasool.
PM Imran Khan expressed deep regret over the violent protest by TLP over the arrest of their leader Saad Rizvi and non-expulsion of French Envoy per government commitment of April 20.
He said during his address that we also love our Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) and want to stop blasphemy against the Holy prophet (P.B.U.H) but one party is pretending as if it only loved the Prophet (P.B.U.H) more than the entire Pakistan.
PM Imran Khan said that TLP and government both standing on the same page over blasphemous issue but somehow government approach is moderate and rationale.
Prime Minister said that deportation of the French Ambassador will have no effect on France. In fact, it would be detrimental to Pakistan itself. He questioned whether expelling the French ambassador from the country would guarantee an end to blasphemy against Prophet (P.B.U.H).Pakistan cannot take the risk of expelling French Ambassador as it would let Pakistan isolated on international front.
PM Imran Khan further said that our relationship with the European Union will also deteriorate. Our currency will come under pressure, inflation will rise and poverty will increase, it will be detrimental for Pakistan’s interests and not France.
“The West has made this an issue of freedom of speech and if we send back the French ambassador, and Pakistan will have to face repercussions”, PM Imran Khan added.
PM Imran Khan said that matter of French ambassador was to be put before the parliament but TLP threatened to do long March and sit-in which forced government to apprehend TLP leaders and workers to maintain law and order situation in the country.
PM Imran Khan said that India social media teams are instigating the TLP issue to spread misinformation and panic among the people though the situation is quite calm and under government’s control
PM Imran Khan alleged and condemned that PML N is supporting TLP for their country wide protests although all the political parties of the country are playing the role of mute spectator over TLP issue and ongoing anarchy in the country between government and banned TLP.
He emphasized for that the collective voice of whole Muslim world to threat for trade boycott could put a stop to blasphemy as protest demonstrations would damage nothing but Pakistan’s booming economy.
