PM Imran Khan rejects Sindh govt's 'complete lockdown' suggestion

PM Imran Khan has rejected Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah’s proposal to impose complete lockdown across the country amid the growing deadly third wave of Coronavirus.

PM Imran Khan reiterated his stance that Pakistan cannot afford to have a complete lockdown and businesses will not shun, despite the third wave of coronavirus being very dangerous.

Reacting to CM Murad Ali’s comments, the prime minister said Pakistan cannot afford a complete lockdown as it would adversely impact daily wage earners throughout the country.

PM Imran Khan after conducting an important meeting on Coronavirus National Coordination Committee (NCC) directed the strict implementation of SOPs.

PM Imran Khan during the meeting endorsed the decision to impose smart lockdowns, an immediate ban on all indoor and outdoor activities across the country. Restrictions are to be applied to districts and cities with more than 8% positive cases. The meeting also considered the option of reducing inter-provincial transport.

The Prime Minister also directed the merit and transparency to be ensured in the vaccination process.
